Section 12.5

An Incomplete Map of the Powers

Creator: Jason Paul · Developed with AI by ToC Works.

Daniel names some powers through the peoples associated with them. Deuteronomy gives an image of apportionment. Psalm 82 presents judgment. Taken together, these passages suggest a relationship between spiritual agency and national life.

They do not give us a complete register of heaven. We do not learn the name, jurisdiction, history, and final fate of every power. Nor can we assume that every term in each passage refers to exactly the same kind of being.

A map with a few disclosed relationships remains incomplete. That incompleteness should shape the Greek comparison. We may recognize a question about national powers without knowing whether a particular divine figure answers it.

The aim is to understand the relationships the sources reveal and test proposed extensions carefully. A partial disclosure can be significant without becoming permission to fill every empty place with the names of a pagan pantheon.
