ToC Works

Turn chat logs into a book

Yes. Chat logs can be starting material for a book. Choose the ideas worth keeping, organize them into an outline, and use ToC Works to generate a complete working draft. You do not need a finished manuscript to begin.

Choose what belongs in the book

A conversation records how you explored a subject. A book needs an order that works for someone encountering it for the first time. Keep the useful explanations, examples, decisions, and unanswered questions. Remove repeated prompts, discarded directions, and replies that no longer reflect your thinking.

Keep a copy of the original conversation. In a separate working document, distinguish your own experiences and observations from AI suggestions. Remove private details or material you do not have permission to share before bringing it into a project.

Prepare text and a short brief

Copy the selected passages into a working document with descriptive headings. Add the intended reader, what the book should help them understand, the voice you want, and anything that must remain unchanged. You can use a chat tool to help organize this material before starting in ToC.

Start a book in ToC Works and bring the project brief and resulting outline into the creation flow. Prepare the relevant text yourself; shared conversation links may require your account to open.

Give the conversation a new structure

Use a chapter brief with four parts: the question this chapter answers, the points it needs to cover, the selected passages it can draw on, and the questions you still need to resolve. Arrange the chapters so each builds on what the reader has already learned.

Give each chapter a purpose and identify the passages that support it. Mark missing evidence as a research task. A confident answer in a chat is not a verified source.

Generate and review the draft

In ToC Works, review the outline before production. For paid production, check the scope and price before checkout. Starting an intake is free. The result of generation is a working draft that you can revise in the studio and export as Word or EPUB.

Compare important passages with the original material. Check quotations, names, dates, and claims against sources you can open. If you want to preserve finished passages word for word, consider assembly rather than new prose generation. Publication is optional.
